Maralal

Maralal is a small town of 18,000 inhabitants considered as the “administrative capital” of the Samburu people. It is the most Northern town in this region of Kenya where it is possible to buy gas and food.

To continue north one must be completely autonomous. Maralal is therefore a meeting point for travellers who head to the desert and wilderness areas of the north, and those who return. Every year, usually in late August, an “international festival” takes place in Maralal, making the little town famous of its camel racing.
