Expedition Cruises

When land transportation is not possible and planes do not allow sufficient flexibility or make access too difficult or too expensive, expedition cruises are a perfect way to explore a remote region of the world.

While expedition and cruise seem somehow contradictory, such trips are nowadays able to combine levels of comfort, ranging from basic to luxury, with a spirit of adventure and exploration of the wilderness.

Expedition cruises have a theme but, while there is a typical itinerary that the crew try to respect, it can significantly vary as a function of the weather and the conditions. Such cruises around Svalbard, for instance, will modify their itinerary depending on the condition of the icefloe and the wildlife encountered.

In all cases expedition ships are small with shallow draft and they are able to inch close to less visited scenic wonders.

Depending on the number of people interested in a specific expedition, a ship can be chartered for a tailor made expedition.
