Huab Conservancy

The Huab Conservancy, in Damaraland, is located approximately 90 km North West of Khorixas, nestled in a grove of Mopane trees on the banks of a tributary of the Huab River.

The area is home to Hartmann’s mountain zebras, oryx, springboks, steenbok, klipspringers, elephants, spotted and brown hyenas, jackals, leopards, cape foxes and African wild cats, in addition to several others.

It is, however, most renowned for its desert-adapted rhinos – the tracking is completely private, and performed in an area that has the highest tracking success rate in north western Namibia. Exploring the upper, and less crowded, Huab River in search of desert-adapted elephants is also highly rewarding, in addition to the nature walks, scenic game drives and possibility of visiting some nearby prehistoric rock engravings here.
