Walking Safaris

One aspect that differentiates days of safari in Zimbabwe from those in most other African countries is the possibility to engage in walking safaris (or “bush walks”). This means that when interesting animals are far from the tracks and it is difficult to approach them by car, the guide (specialized in this area, used to such approaches and armed) can offer you a walk through the savannah of few minutes to an hour or two, to position yourself a few dozen metres from lions, wild dogs, etc. and a few metres from big elephants.

These opportunities for walking safaris are optional and you undertake them only if you so wish. If this is your choice, the safety instructions of your specialist guide should be scrupulously respected. Your guide may help you carry your photographic equipment or it may be left in a secure part of the car.
