The Ark

Very iconic and somewhat quirky, The Ark is a lodge built to resemble Noah’s Ark in Aberdare National Park. It overlooks a lighted waterhole and a “salt licking” point that attracts a multitude of wildlife, especially herds of elephants. There are viewing areas on four different levels as well as a bunker right next to the waterhole, where visitors can watch and photograph the animals up close, while remaining invisible.

The whole lodge is built to look like a wooden boat, like Noah’s Ark. Each floor has living rooms, patios, and large windows for constant wildlife viewing. The ‘Ark’ theme is constant throughout, with all rooms resembling ship cabins, and with the different levels and open verandas resembling ship decks. If desired, the night watchman will buzz your room if unusual wildlife appear at the waterhole.

This is a medium sized lodge with 60 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom.
