Shametu River Lodge

Shametu River Lodge is located 7 km southwest of Divundu, in the centre of the Caprivi Strip. Its construction on the banks of the Kavango River allows its visitors to enjoy the best views of the Popa Falls (a series of rapids) of any accommodation in the area.

The parts are spread over three levels and have a fairly simple but functional decor. At the top is a large thatched lounge / reception area, where there is a TV and a selection of locally produced postcards and knick-knacks. From there, steps lead down to an open restaurant and bar, where most meals are served. Descending further steps, the area opens up to manicured lawns leading to an inviting swimming pool and outdoor sunset deck / bar, both offering views of the river and rapids.

Shametu has 15 rooms divided into three types: four luxury chalets, four tents overlooking the river, and seven standard rooms. All have en-suite shower rooms, tea and coffee making facilities, safes, mosquito nets on the beds, and verandas with manager-style chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view.
