Pousada Pouso Alegre

Pousada Pouso Alegre is an authentic cattle ranch still in use. The size of the property, an area of 8,000 hectares, allows the immersion in various landscapes that have been preserved from the introduction of any non-indigenous species, presenting characteristic flora and fauna, with large floodable fields of native grass, several kinds of forest and permanent and temporary water bodies.

During both drought and flood, many natural features of Pantanal may be observed in trips to rarely frequented places – by walking, on horseback and canoe rides. Wildlife such as caymans, capybaras, monkeys, anacondas and deers can be seen in their wild and natural habitats. Hundreds of species of birds are also present in the area, such as hyacinth macaws, toucans, cardinals and the bird symbol of Pantanal, the jabiru stork.

The lodge has been built to welcome guests and offers simple yet comfortable accommodation, in harmony with the landscape and with farm lifestyle. It has 13 brick-built bungalows, equipped with nets against mosquitos, each with a fan and bathroom.

The cosy restaurant of the lodge has a great reputation for the quality of its meals prepared in the firewood oven.

The combination of a very limited number of visitors, good accommodation and great food, privileged location in an exceptional natural environment, and a peaceful and authentic ambiance make Pousada Pouso Alegre a superb choice from where to discover the region.
