Mount Gahinga Lodge

Nestled at the base of the Virunga Volcanoes on the border of Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC, Mount Gahinga Lodge is an upmarket adventure eco-lodge that is well located to go gorilla tracking, to track the rare golden monkey, to climb a volcano, to walk through local villages and, especially, to share the culture of the Batwa pygmies, the oldest inhabitants of the Central African rainforest.

The lodge has been completely refurbished and renovated. Its rustic charm is inspired by traditional design and building techniques. It features a restaurant on site, a lovely living room, a sun room that looks out towards the volcanoes with spectacular views of the Kisoro valley below, and there is also a new terrace and lush landscaped gardens. Wi-Fi and charging stations are available in the main lodge building. The lodge has little impact on the eco-system and there has been a special emphasis on the need to reduce waste and excess.

Accommodation is in nine private and comfortable thatched bandas decorated in the traditions of the Bufimbira people, and with ensuite luxury shower room, fireplace and private verandas.
