Located in the eastern sector of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, just outside the Ololamutiek access point, the Mara Sopa Lodge is one of the first lodges built in this region, and it blends naturally into the hilly landscape of the region.
“Sopa” means a welcoming place for the Maasai, and the lodge lives up to its name with a welcoming atmosphere, comfortable accommodation, and attentive service. The lodge is very well located for game drives in the eastern part of the reserve, and it offers a number of facilities including a beautiful swimming pool, lush and fenced gardens for walking and relaxing, an introduction to Maasai culture with dances, and a table where the bushbabies (or galagos) come to feed in the evening – to the delight of parents and children.
The common areas consist of a spacious lounge, bar and restaurant opening onto a large terrace. It serves buffet meals and traditional dishes. Outdoor meals and picnics are available on request.
Traditionally designed, the accommodation features authentic thatched roofs resembling the round Maasai buildings in the area. Visitors can choose from 88 double rooms, 1 bridal suite and 12 suites. Each bedroom has queen / king-size beds, mosquito net, electronic safe, dressing table, private bathroom with shower and toilet, and raised veranda with magnificent views on the valley – a private place to relax between two activities.
Wi-Fi internet connection is also available in the lodge.
