Little Governors’ Camp

Little Governors’ Camp is a luxury safari tented camp located on the banks of the Mara River, in the sanctuary of the Trans-Mara area. It is approached either by land, or by a boat ride across the Mara River then an escorted walk through the riverine forest.

At the corner of the camp is an open sided dining room, bar and a cluster of tall trees under which many meals are served. At night, there is no electricity and so the camp is lit only by lanterns and candles. The atmosphere is friendly and guests often sit around the large campfire recounting the day’s events.

Like all Governors’ properties, the camp is unfenced, and at Little Governors’ there is a resident family of warthogs that wander freely through the camp. Guests may also need to make way for elephants, which sometimes visit the camp at lunchtime.

The camp is quiet and intimate in character, having just 17 luxury en-suite tents with hot showers and wc, plus wooden decks and large verandas for guests to enjoy the constant game activity.

Little Governors Camp has been awarded a Silver Eco-Rating by Eco Tourism Kenya due to its sustainable practices in place in camp. Activities on offer from the camp include game drives and Hot Air Balloon Safaris (extra charge).
