Lagoon Camp is perched on the banks of the Kwando River and nestled among towering ebony and marula trees in the Kwando Concession, currently the largest private, unfenced wildlife area in Botswana.
During the dry winter months (June, July and August), large herds of elephants drink by the riverside near the camp, within sight of the main deck, while otters often play in the water. The lagoon wild dog pack is regularly found near the camp, and the excellent viewing opportunities have earned the lagoon a reputation as a favourite spot for wild dogs in Botswana.
Activities offered at the camp include bush walks (seasonal) and game drives (both off-road and at night).
Another special feature of the camp is the afternoon river cruise. A unique double-deck boat allows multiple visitors to drift along the river while enjoying spectacular views of mammals and birds. For clients who like to fish, there is ample space to cast a line in the water as the boat winds.
The eight en-suite tents all have picturesque river views. Each tent has a private terrace, a spacious living room, and a private bathroom – with indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a bathtub for a pleasant relaxing afternoon.
There is also a family tent with two bedrooms adjacent to the main room.
Common areas of the camp include a bar and lounge area, an outdoor patio with a swing, a dining room, a gift shop, an orientation centre, and a cosy library on the second level overlooking the river.
