Located at Mukki (in the Balaghat District) amidst Sal forests, Kanha Jungle Lodge is about one kilometre from the Kanha National Park’s Mukki entrance and is designed as a jungle lodge, well camouflaged in the forest. The lodge is part of the Tiger Resort group, which includes Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge, and is managed by a committed and enthusiastic naturalist, offering guides of high quality.
The lodge is tastefully developed with low impact on the land and environment. Thanks to its location, guests can listen to the sounds of the jungle close up, including the songs of multiple species of birds, the alarm calls of deer, and the occasional roar of the tiger.
The lodge has set strong principles of being environmentally friendly and every aspect of its development and operation is sensitively poised towards nature conservation. The owners are proud to explain that not even one tree was cut down during the construction of the lodge; in fact, one room has a tree growing through it!
The social core of the lodge is the thatched dining and lounge area, and outside there is a terrace for al fresco dining. The lodge’s courtyard acts as a gathering place where guests can meet and chat. It has a hammock for lazing, and is a good spot for stargazing by night. The library has a good collection of books, and the gift shop stocks a range of items including clothes and books.
There are 18 rooms and 2 cottages, all en-suite with full running water and a supply of toiletries. Bedrooms have writing desks and chairs, and plenty of storage space. The rooms have shared outdoor seating areas. Cottages are the deluxe option, and have private rear patios. Hot water bottles are provided on cool nights.
