Ithumba Hill private camp is owned by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. This is their newest and most beautiful camp, created to provide a good level of comfort for visitors exploring this remote northern region of Tsavo East, and encountering the orphaned elephants of Ithumba.
The camp was built on a hill and it incorporates modern standards of construction to minimize its environmental impact. It offers plenty of space to relax and unwind, and visitors can climb up the hill to get breathtaking views of Tsavo East’s vast wilderness. From the upstairs living room guests can enjoy the spectacular sunsets and sunrises for which the park is known, often with Mount Kilimanjaro visible above the distant southern horizon.
Ithumba Hill Camp offers 4 spacious and elegant rooms in raised tents, accommodating up to 8 people. These airy tent platforms, which include Lamu-style doors as well as floor-to-ceiling netting, offer 180-degree views of Ithumba’s landscapes. They have the possibility of being transformed into double rooms or of having twin beds with high quality linen. Each bedroom is thoughtfully designed in its own secluded spot on Ithumba Hill, each with an en-suite bathroom exposed to African skies as well as a generous raised balcony with lounge chairs and plenty of space to relax.
Like the eco-camp, this camp can only be booked by a single group of travellers who have it for their exclusive use.
