Camp Catta sits in a wide valley at the foot of the towering cliffs of the Tsaranoro Valley, about an hour and a half from the tarmac road via a dirt road.
Camp Catta is one of the largest, most comfortable, and best located camps in the region. The 10 bungalows are decorated in a traditional Malagasy style and equipped with bathrooms with solar water heaters. Visitors staying there can choose between accommodation that is either a tent bungalow or a bungalow with more traditional walls. The tent bungalows are narrow and dark inside; for some visitors this gives them a certain charm.
The camp itself is fairly simple with a central dining area and bar, which serves as the lodge’s social hub. The food is good with a mix of Malagasy and European dishes, though given its remote location the menu is limited.
There is also a shaded outdoor veranda where visitors can relax in the afternoon. This camp provides good value for money accommodation in the Andringitra National Park region. It is popular with visitors as it offers easy access to hiking trails, which are the main attraction for visiting the park.
