Bale Mountain Lodge

Bale Mountain Lodge is a newly opened eco-lodge, inaugurated in 2014, and is ideally located in the Harenna Forest near the Sanetti Plateau.

The lodge is nestled into the hillside to minimize the visual impact on the surrounding area, and is built of grey local stone and slate. The dining room is a traditional “tukul” style with a thatched roof and a sweep of windows that maximise the views of the natural clearing and the mountain range beyond. A central fireplace creates a comfortable area for relaxing during colder evenings.

The eight “menyetta-bets” rooms are spacious and comfortable; all have an en-suite bathroom and a wood-burning stove to guarantee an enjoyable temperature throughout the year. The furniture has been manufactured locally using durable wood and contributes to the high quality Ethiopian style decor.
